Ben’s current research interests focus on improving our fundamental understanding of tropical cyclones and polar lows, and their associated hazards - Factors controlling outer tropical cyclone size and their associated predictability; Sensitivity of outer tropical cyclone size to anthropogenic warming; Factors controlling the occurrence of tornadoes and wind gusts during landfalling tropical cyclones; Role of tropopause polar vortices during extratropical transition of tropical cyclones; Structure and energetics of polar lows.
