Brandon Smith

Research Associate

Brandon Smith is a research meteorologist who specializes in the development of severe weather-based radar algorithms for both the Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor System (MRMS) and the WSR-88D radar network. Specifically, his algorithm development focuses on improved detection of severe weather phenomena such as mesocyclones and tornadoes. In addition, he provides support and improvements to the Warning Decision Support System – Integrated Information (WDSS-II) system, which serves as the backbone for MRMS. When possible, Brandon also participates in field projects and damage surveys.
