Alyssa Bates

Research Associate II / Instructional Meteorologist

As an instructional meteorologist at the NWS Warning Decision training Division, I manage the creation and maintenance of online training modules, references, and webinars for Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor (MRMS) products. My small team works together to develop training on products for severe/aviation weather and hydrometeorological products designed to help NWS forecasters make hazardous weather warning decisions. I also serve as an investigator for a NOAA Hazardous Weather Testbed experiment designed to test new probabilistic hazardous weather information dissemination in hopes of developing best practices and preliminary training plans. My other interests include severe weather and warning decision-making, communication of weather information to vulnerable populations, and the research-to-operations process.
