Ian Gesell

Research Associate

I am working on a portion of the Forecasting a Continuum of Environmental Threats (FACETS) project. I will be examining spatial and temporal verification for multiple hazards, including hail, lightning and tornadoes. This will utilize hundreds previously created Probabilistic Hazard Information (PHI) objects, both automated and modified as by forecasters in the HWT experiments to validate both multiple probability distribution models for each hazard. I will be trying to develop an improved methodology for creating the PHI objects for different types of hazards based on hazard type.
