Pat Hyland

Research Associate

I am a NOAA Affiliate with the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) Warning Research Development Division (WRDD). We are tasked with developing products, tools, algorithms, and techniques to improve short-term nowcasting and the warning-decision-making process. We transition this research to the operational National Weather Service (NWS) for the protection of life and property through year-round experiments with a variety of end users in the NOAA Hazardous Weather Testbed (HWT). As a Research Associate, I perform manual and automated analyses of a variety of different radar products and provide recommendations for use of different products in the ORPG. I also am a project scientist and facilitator for a variety of HWT experiments to work with end users to transition software and products for operational use.
