Kevin Thiel

Research Associate

Kevin Thiel is a Research Associate for OU CIWRO, working as the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) Satellite Liaison. His job includes testing experimental satellite products with NWS forecasters in NOAA's Hazardous Weather Testbed, enhancing the use of satellite-related products in SPC operations, and conducting satellite-based research with regards to severe weather. Kevin is also a PhD Candidate at the University of Oklahoma's School of Meteorology, studying forecast applications of a space-based lightning mapper. Previously, Kevin received his M.S. in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma, and his B.S. in Meteorology with Departmental Honors from Ohio University.
