The University of Oklahoma Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies and NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory welcome a new addition to the staff.

Jami Boettcher joins as a researcher after recently retiring from the National Weather Service, most recently with the Warning Decision Training Division. Boettcher worked with NWS for more than 20 years!

Boettcher brings operational perspective to the Radar Research and Development Division’s Phased Array Radar and Meteorological Studies Team, PAMST. She will help analyze simulated radar data to illustrate the operational impact of different radar and/or scan-strategy designs while providing a NWS training and forecaster’s perspective to support the refinement of the Spectrum Efficient National Surveillance Radar program, SENSR.

Boettcher’s team explores potential SENSR solutions, identifying the inevitable trade-offs, and she adds the context of operational use of the data, particularly for hazardous weather warnings.

We are excited to welcome Boettcher to the team!
