Danny Wasielewski, Electronics Engineer (OU CIMMS/NSSL RRDD)
Background: M.S. Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Oklahoma
B.S. Engineering Physics, University of Oklahoma
Experience: Danny grew up here in Oklahoma and attended OU, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics in 2007. He then went on to complete a Master’s degree at OU in 2010, focusing on Electrical & Computer Engineering. During his graduate studies, Danny was hired as an Electronics Engineer with the Federal Aviation Administration, where he used his skills to optimize the performance of the FAA’s surface surveillance systems. Danny came to NSSL in 2014 as an Electronics Engineer hired through OU CIMMS.
What He Does: In his role as Electronics Engineer, Danny maintains and improves radar systems used for severe weather research. He also works collaboratively with NSSL researchers to design and build new remote sensing technology. His engineering background is particularly useful for developing innovative measurement techniques and tools. Danny places strong value on the cooperative nature of his role, and he is always seeking opportunities for cross-division and cross-disciplinary projects. He encourages others to not feel bound by technological limitations but rather to consider “What would you do if you knew we had the technology?”
Trivia: Danny is married with one son. He enjoys music, photography, robotics, puns, cheese, and board games!
