The National Weather Association announced its newly elected officers and councilors on January 7, 2016, and among them was OU CIMMS’ Greg Stumpf.
Stumpf has been a member of the NWA since 1998, and served on their Home Page Advisory Committee from 1998-2002. He has been affiliated with numerous professional and academic organizations throughout his career, which has spanned nearly 27 years with OU CIMMS in Norman, Oklahoma.
Stumpf earned his bachelor’s degree in meteorology from SUNY – Oswego in May 1986 and his Master’s in atmospheric science from Colorado State University in December 1988. As a CIMMS research associate, he acts as a liaison between NOAA’s National Severe Storms Laboratory and the National Weather Service severe weather warning program. He coordinates operations for the Hazardous Weather Testbed – Experimental Warning Program and develops new warning and radar applications.
NWA officers and councilors are elected by the association’s membership. Stump will serve a two-year term as NWA Councilor. Congratulations, Greg!
