In early April, CIMMS scientists with the NOAA/NWS Warning Decision Training Division (WDTD) will be facilitating two workshops for the Oklahoma Weather Lab, a student forecasting organization at the University of Oklahoma. During these workshops, participants will receive hands-on experience that will allow them to “become the forecaster.” They will identify severe weather threats, analyze data, and issue warnings.

WDTD will be using a state-of-the-art computer lab to simulate the warning environment that National Weather Service forecasters experience in real-life situations.  The workshops are limited to current OWL members, and require some AWIPS-2 Fundamentals to be taken prior to attending. Guides have been provided by WDTD.

The workshops will be held April 6 and 7 from 4:00-8:00. Please contact Alex Zwink for more information: alexander.zwink@noaa.gov.
