Megan Taylor, Research Associate

Experience:
Megan always wanted to work in the weather enterprise and has been involved with meteorology in three different sectors. Her first job out of college was in 2009 as a fill-in meteorologist/reporter at KQTV in St. Joseph, Missouri. She was eventually promoted to the weekend meteorologist role and part-time reporting. Shortly thereafter, Megan accepted the Morning Meteorologist position at KEZI-TV in Eugene, Oregon. She worked there from 2010 through 2012 and was tasked with live and recorded broadcasts, web writing, social media, outreach, and occasional reporting. After years in the private sector, she now works for the government. Megan also holds an adjunct position in the academic world, teaching earth science online for Liberty University.
What She Does:
Megan joined CIMMS in January 2012. She is a research associate assigned to the National Weather Service Training Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Megan helps research and build online and in-class training for a variety of topics within meteorology, hydrology, and leadership fields. She also teaches several classes, including Impact-Based Decision Support Services (IDSS) Deployment Boot Camp, Cooperative Network Operations, and a few leadership courses. She primarily teaches about media interviews, communication, and graphic design. Megan is also a team lead for the NWSTC Social Media Team, Google Apps Team, and NWSTC Intranet. She helps the instructional designer with internal training and coaching.
Trivia:
Megan is from a large family. Including her step-siblings, she is the oldest of nine children. She has five sisters and four brothers. Megan is also aunt to six nieces and three nephews (with more likely on the way). In her spare time, she enjoys music, reading, movies/TV, comic books, video games, playing with her four dogs, and attending the occasional Comic-Con.
