CIMMS’ Sebastian Torres, Assistant Director of NOAA Relations, was chosen as a member of the 2016-2017 Leadership Council at the University of Oklahoma. This eight-month program offers leadership development experiences for up to 20 members of the university community. Council members form close relationships, volunteer in the community, and hone skills that equip them for professional career advancement.  The program is based on Kouzes and Posner’s five practices of exemplary leadership:

  1. Model the Way
  2. Inspire a Shared Vision
  3. Challenge the Process
  4. Enable Others to Act
  5. Encourage the Heart

The Leadership Council holds sessions in various locations across campus. Meetings include guest speakers and provide real-world exercises and tools that participants can use in the workplace. The program is highly sought-after, and Sebastian’s application stood out against a large pool of highly qualified applicants. He has been recognized by the Leadership Council Selection Committee as a future leader at the university. Congratulations, Sebastian!
